If you haven't been to the Belvedere Family service recently, you may notice some changes the next time you come. Our Sunday Service Committee was looking for ways to improve the experience of our members and guests. We were looking at things like seating, sound, video, and the focus of the audience. Discussions had been going on for over a year considering a number of possible improvements. We also seek to maintain the historic qualities of Belvedere and the meeting room, aka "Training Center" that was first used by Rev. Moon for missionary training back in 1973, and continued to be used for his Sunday sermons for many, many years. During the time period of about 1974-78 the stage was located on the West side of the room and occasionally moved for special events. The large doors could be opened and crowds could extend out into the parking lot and the lawn. As the larger crowds began coming every Sunday to hear Rev. Moon speak, it was decided to leave the stage on the North side of the room. The room was actually electrically wired for lighting and other features for the stage to be in West side position. We have now moved the stage back to this original early location. Some may have good memories of hearing Rev. Moon speak from the North side location, but we hope people will also realize that the new location also reflects the early history very well. The photos attached show the stage in the current positon and in the original location while Rev. Moon was speaking there. ... See more
