BFC NOVEMBER 2021 COUNCIL MEETING UPDATE
The BFC Council held its November 2021 Council meeting via Zoom on Tuesday November 9th, from 7:30 to 9:30pm. Generally the Council will hold its meetings on the third Tuesday of every month.
The 2021-2022 BFC Council members are Susan Bouachri (chairperson), Gary Hillier (vice chair), Hye Jin Suzuki, Yuki Jones, Grace Ross, Peter Reiner, Rob Kitchens and Marina Falconi. We were also joined by Pastor Justin and Senior Associate Pastor Rev. Daryl Clarke.
The meeting began with a check in round (we shared our plans for Thanksgiving!) Next, we had “committee reports”. (Each Council member is also a member of a “committee” and thus reports back to the Council on committee activities.) Below is a list of our current committees and Council representatives:

- Sunday Service – Yuki
- Sunday School – Grace
- Youth Ministry – Hye Jin
- Communications – Peter
- Seonghwa – Gary
- Kodan – Susan
- Blessing and Family Ministry – Marina
After our committee reports, Pastor Justin gave an inspiring report and slideshow (see image below for one of the slides), highlighting recent BFC successes, and also some challenges. We also spoke about hiring a new Sunday School Director and BFM representative.
In addition, we discussed the need for a BFC Young Adult Pastor, and formed an “ad hoc” committee to explore this. We also decided to develop “ad hoc” committees for additional BFC needs, such as member care and effective volunteering. There will be more on this in future updates.
Our meeting concluded with a respectful “closing round”, with each person sharing their views on the meeting and ideas for improving future meetings. People seemed overall enthusiastic and energized about all that was discussed and planned.
Note that community members are welcome to participate in Council meetings. Our next meeting will be held on December 21st from 7:30 to 9:30. If you’d like to participate, just let us know at least a week before the meeting, by sending an email to council@belvederefamily.com.
