Preparing for a Stress-Free Seonghwa.
Dear Brothers & Sisters,

On Friday November 17th, the Care Team of BFC sponsored 1.5-hour webinar titled “Preparing for a Stress-Free Seonghwa”.
The recording and other resources have been uploaded to our website, we hope the information helps you start planning for this special life event! Do your family a big favor, and start now!

The Blessed Family Ministry website has a very helpful Seonghwa Guide located here:
(there are links to two pdf documents, Part 1 and Part 2)
Please note there is a very good Preparation Checklist on page 14 of the Seonghwa Guide, Part 1.

On our own BFC resource page we also have a number of documents including a simplified list. When you prepare ahead of time it will provide great help to your family and our own BFC committee.

Included in the resources are price lists and information sheets from the following organizations:

  • Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Sleepy Hollow, NY
  • Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY
  • Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home, Dobbs Ferry, NY

BFC does not specifically endorse these businesses. We are familiar with them, and they know our traditions. However, you have choices when considering your end-of-life plans. Prices vary, and Westchester-based services are more expensive. Feel free to research other locations and businesses to satisfy your and your family’s needs. The Seonghwa Committee will work with your direction. (NYS requires cemeteries to make their price lists available. Funeral homes advise that services can be chosen or skipped, which also affects pricing).

Finally, you’re invited to watch a Sunday Sermon titled “Life and Death”, delivered at the Seattle Family Church by Shinghi Detlefson. Shinghi, who lost his father at age 15, and his mother earlier this year, shares his insights and some good advice from a son to a parent. Use the Vimeo link below.
